About Yoga
Yoga meaning ‘union,’ ‘yoke’ or to ‘join,’ has its ancient roots in India and comes to us today from varied traditions and styles. Most of what we call yoga can be traced to the Hatha yoga tradition, where Ha meaning ‘sun’ and ‘tha’ the moon, is seen as a balancing and equalising of two opposing forces, a bringing together to create union of body, heart and mind. The physical practice is primarily concerned with strengthening the body in preparation for the sitting practice of meditation.

About the Classes

You can expect a warm welcome when joining me for a yoga class! Whether you are an experienced yogi or a complete beginner, classes are taught in stages to allow you to find your own level and go at your own pace. All classes are mixed ability, and I teach an eclectic mix of both the Hatha and Yin yoga styles that integrate body, breath, heart and mind. Staying true to yoga’s roots whilst drawing from the ancient teachings of yoga some 2,500 years ago, all classes work with a theme that will generally include some aspects of yoga philosophy, asana (yoga poses), pranayama (breathwork), relaxation and meditation. Expect to feel both energised and relaxed, breathe well and in time create both strength and spaciousness in body, heart and mind.
